At the 91´ÎÔª, we are committed to creating a safe and secure environment for everyone. Our full-service police department is here to respond to emergencies, but safety is a team effort. Knowing your role during an emergency—and taking the right actions—can make a real difference. What you do in an emergency matters.

Suspicious Activity

UM Police officers can’t be everywhere at once, so we count on our community to be our eyes and ears. Trust your instincts—if something doesn’t seem right, report it. You don’t need to be certain a crime has occurred to contact the police. If something appears suspicious, out of place, or just unusual, call us. A UMPD officer will be happy to check it out. Important details when reporting:

• Who or what you saw
• When you saw it
• Where you saw it
• Why it may be suspicious

Clery Act

The purpose of the Clery Act is to provide current and prospective students and employees with accurate and important information about crimes and campus safety so they can make informed decisions. The U.S. Department of Education electronically publishes the 91´ÎÔª's statistical data along with comparable information from other colleges and universities.

GrizWalk

GrizWalk is a free service provided by the UM Police Department's GrizWalk Security Team. Student teams provide safe walking or driving escorts anytime between dusk and dawn. If GrizWalk is unavailable, a UM Police Officer will provide the same service.

Campus Carry

Carrying of firearms on any UM owned property is prohibited unless by active duty law enforcement. UMPD does offer a free weapon storage service to students who live on campus or in campus housing.
