Scott Wetzel Participates in Rally for Medical Research
The American Association of Immunologists (AAI) and the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) invited Scott Wetzel to participate in the Rally for Medical Research Capitol Hill Day on September 18. This event brought almost 400 patient advocates, clinicians and researchers to Washington D.C. to advocate for continued federal support for the National Institutes of Health in meetings with Congress members and their staff. A proposed 40% cut to the NIH budget would deal a devastating blow to medical research in the US and halt development of many life-saving medical treatments. The impact of these cuts would also significantly damage the economy the state of Montana. In FY24, the NIH awarded $49 million in grants and contracts in Montana that directly supported 663 jobs and $129 million in economic activity.
