A scholarship is money awarded to help pay for your education that does not have to repaid. Scholarships can come from UM and its academic departments, private organizations, nonprofits, employers and other sources. Criteria for each scholarship will vary and may be based on things like academic achievement, talent, financial need, leadership or specific interests.

Scholarship Application Timelines
New students are automatically evaluated for the merit-based scholarships when they apply. In order to be considered for incoming merit scholarships, students must apply for admission by July 1. Scholarship priority will be given to those who apply by this date.
It is best to begin researching scholarship opportunities in the fall for the following academic year. The majority of scholarship applications have a winter deadline. For example, the application deadline for campuswide scholarships for current students is March 1.
