International partnerships are essential to comprehensive research and creative scholarship. Transformational global partnerships usually begin with short specific projects aimed at generating longer-term collaborations able to sustain regular interactions and further develop common interests. Therefore, the purpose of the Global Research Program (GRP) is to promote and foster comprehensive internationalization of the 91´ÎÔª through collaborations with international institutions through new and existing global partnerships.
The project activity must occur outside of the U.S. and in collaboration with international partner(s). Collaboration with UM’s existing Global Partner institutions is encouraged but not required. Collaborations with these existing Global Partner institutions are more likely to attract additional supplemental funding and logistical support from the partner university. Faculty are encouraged to visit UM's International Travel Guidance and the UM Global Engagement Office.
