The purpose of Academic Portfolio Review is to conduct an annual analysis guided by metrics defined in BOR Policy 303.3 Program Review and other data identified to evaluate program health, sustainability, and student success. Official recommendations resulting from the Academic Portfolio Review are initiated through Faculty Senate and Board of Regents procedures.
2025-2026 Review
The scope of this year's review remains comprehensive:
- Certificates and minors with low completion rates (fewer than five completions on average) should be reviewed by their offering departments for potential moratorium or termination. The Faculty Senate has agreed to accept late requests for these actions through March. Any other resulting program modifications will be undertaken during the Fall 2026 curriculum review cycle.
- Undergraduate programs identified for monitoring or modification during the 2023–2024 APR cycle are reflected in the current APR data with a status of “Review.” Some additional programs with low enrollments and completions have also been flagged. These academic units will be contacted, as appropriate, to provide brief updates on progress, actions taken, and plans moving forward.
- Program modifications implemented during the 2024–2025 academic year or requested during the current academic year will be considered as part of this review, as will the recent graduate assistant reallocation process at the graduate level.
The materials below include program-level data dashboards and instructions for using the data. Additional guidance will be provided as the review advances. Please direct questions and requests for access to the Office of the Provost at officeoftheprovost@umontana.edu.
