Sport for Social Change Exchange

- Lima, Peru
- April 20 - 30, 2026
- Application period December 9 - January 4
- This Sport for Social Change exchange is fully funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs as part of their International Sports Programming Initiative. Over the past several years, the Mansfield Center has partnered with sports organizations in many countries, including China, Laos, Honduras, Chile, the Dominican Republic, and Peru on similar programs. For this exchange, we've partnered with PH International, the U.S. lead on this grant award, as well as local organizations in Peru and the U.S. Embassy in Lima.
- The Sport for Social Change Program is designed to foster the development of leadership skills in coaches, administrators, and youth influencers. By building the capacity of community leaders, the exchange fosters the creation or improvement of athletic programming that inspires confidence in youth athletes so they may more fully contribute to their team, their community, and the larger society.
- 10 adult Montana track, cross country, or running program coaches or administrators will be selected to travel to Peru for the exchange. Those with youth coaching experience and significant community engagement are encouraged to apply.
- Airfare, lodging, meals, health benefits, and program activities are provided.
- No Spanish language experience is required.
- Take part in workshops and sessions with local organizations to share best practices and learn new techniques in coaching and youth sport administration.
- Experience Peru by participating in cultural activities, engaging with local coaches and community leaders, enjoying local cuisine, etc.
- Visit the U.S. Embassy in Lima during the bicentennial of U.S. - Peru diplomatic relations.
