Graduate Student Readmission
When You Should Apply for Readmission
Graduate Students should only apply for readmission if they fall into one of the three categories listed below.
- You were accepted to a graduate program but officially deferred your admission to a later term, and are now returning.
- You are returning after an approved leave of absence within the time frame specified in that leave of absence.
- You have not maintained continuous registration as specified in .
Readmission is guaranteed only if you were approved for a Leave of Absence or Deferred Admission and are returning for the term listed in that approval.
If you left your program without approval, contact your program first -- you may need to submit a new application instead of this form. If your program supports readmission, meet with your advisor to create a plan and timeline for completing your degree.
If you have not been officially admitted for a graduate program, you may not be readmitted to that graduate program. This is inclusive of anyone who has not been admitted to any graduate program, as well as anyone who was admitted to one graduate program, but is attempting to join a different program via readmission. For these cases, .
All readmission forms must be submitted and processed before you can register for classes. For international students, your readmission form must be submitted before your updated I-20 can be issued to you.
Step-By-Step Instructions
Step One
.
Step Two
You will be given the option to either log in or create an application. You will use the “log in” option if you were admitted with a Slate application (anyone admitted in 2023 or after). You will use the “create an application” option if you were admitted prior to Slate (anyone admitted prior to 2023).
Step Three
After logging in or creating your account, you will see your Application Management page, which will show any former or in-progress applications that you have.
To create your Readmission, you must click “Start New Application” at the bottom center of the page.
Step Four
You will then complete the Readmission form as prompted. Review, sign and submit your readmission once you are satisfied with the information.
Step Five
You will be prompted to pay the $25 readmission fee. Everyone seeking readmission must pay the readmission fee, regardless of if their absence was approved or not.
Step Six
You will be directed to your readmission application status page, where you may upload materials. The only required materials are residency materials if you are seeking in-state residency. You are welcome to upload other materials as well, which will be viewed with your readmission by your program.
Step Seven
Your readmission will go to your program for review, and you will be notified via status update in your email once your readmission has been approved or not approved. 24 hours after you have received your official readmission approval letter, you will be able to register for classes.
