What are Supportive Measures?
Supportive measures are free, flexible tools and services designed to help individuals maintain access to education or work opportunities at the University. They are available to anyone who has experienced discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, or retaliation—or who is involved in a related process. Supportive measures may be offered regardless of whether a formal complaint is filed.

Types of Supportive Measures Available
Supportive measures are customized to meet each individual’s specific needs. Some examples include:
- Referrals to counseling or mental health services
- Academic accommodations (e.g., extensions of deadlines, schedule adjustments)
- Modifications to work or class schedules
- Campus escort services
- Changes in work or housing locations
- Temporary leaves of absence
- Increased security or monitoring in certain areas of campus
- Safety planning
- Mutual no-contact directives
- Referrals to on- and off-campus resources
- Access to relevant training or educational resources
- Other similar measures to ensure safety and access
How to Request Supportive Measures

Confidentiality and Privacy
Supportive measures are handled with care and respect for your privacy. The CRP Office shares information only with those who need it to implement the support. For students, this may include partners like SARC, UM Housing, UMPD, faculty, academic leaders, or Curry Health. For employees, coordination may involve supervisors, the Provost’s Office, or Human Resource Services. Information is shared only as needed to provide effective support.
