Montana Teacher Residency Program
What is the Montana Teacher Residency Program?
The Montana Teacher Residency Program is an alternative to traditional student teaching, where Residents (student teachers) are placed under a Teacher Leader (mentor teacher) in a Montana school district and complete their student teaching over the course of the entire school year.
Program Benefits
- Extended student teaching experience under mentor guidance for a full school year.
- Complete remaining courses and clinical experience credits during the residency year
- Monthly stipends of $1,400 for 10 months during the Residency year.
- Last-Dollar-In Tuition waiver during the Residency year.
Eligibilty Requirements
This program is open to elementary K-8, secondary, and K-12 licensure program students. In exchange for the benefits that Residents receive while student teaching, they are required to teach in a Montana public school district for three years within a five-year window.
