Griz Equestrian Team (Eventing)
Montana is rich in its history with 3 day eventing as it hosts one of the greatest internationalcompetitions as “Rebecca Farms” in Kalispell. The 3 day eventing team at U of M hosts people involved in the sport under USEA and USEF regulations. The team itself follows the Area VII competition schedule. The members of the team range from beginner novice to Intermediate level eventing.
Our organized team plans to coordinate traveling to shows, trailer rides for the horses, and accommodations during competition weekends. Additionally, we train under the careful coaching of Jil Walton in Kalispell. Our horses are stabled in Frenchtown, which is 25 minutes away from campus. The event team organizes exercising our horses throughout the school year, focusing on
preparation for the summer competition season.
Riders and students interested in joining the eventing team should have prior knowledge of
horses and experience or passion to compete. Owning a horse is not a requirement, as lease
options may come available. Additionally, the team organizes trailering to and from lessons with
coaches. Riders have the opportunity to compete at 8 recognized 3 day eventing competitions a
year and 2 recognized hunter jumper shows.
