Tours and Outreach Visits

The UM Biodiversity Research Collections--the Paleontology Center, the Herbarium (MONTU), and the Philip L. Wright Zoological Collection--regularly welcome K-12 groups, community organizations, and other visitors for guided tours. And we can also bring specimens and experiences from the collections to you! To book a tour or visit from us, please review the following information and submit the inquiry form below.

Guided Tours (on campus) 

  • Group size in the collections is limited to 20 people. Larger groups can request to book multiple tours or ask to be accommodated as a full group in a larger classroom.
  • Tour duration is 1 hour for each collection. Tours of multiple collections can be arranged, pending staff availability.
  • Cost:
    • K-12 schools and programs: $50/tour
    • Other public groups: $75/tour
    • No charge for UM classes, clubs, or other groups, or for visiting researchers

Outreach Visits (we bring the collections to you)

  • Available in person at locations within one hour's drive of Missoula and virtually at other locations
  • Cost:
    • K-12 schools and programs: $100/presentation
    • Community organizations, businesses, and other groups: $150/presentation

If cost is a barrier, fee waivers are available. 

If your group size is larger than 20 people, we will follow up with you about either booking multiple tours or accommodating your full group in a larger classroom space.
