Quantum Summer Academy at MSU

Inspiring Montana students and teachers through hands-on quantum science and STEM career exploration

Montana State University’s Quantum Summer Academy brought together high school students and teachers from across Montana for a week of hands-on projects, lab tours, and mentorship designed to spark interest in quantum science and future STEM careers.

“I am prepared for the next school year and begin learning key concepts early, which has improved my grades. I knew what I was doing in Algebra 2 this year! I have never really liked English, but now it’s my favorite subject after having a great experience in last summer’s English class. Upward Bound has given me my best friend, amazing mentors, and a lifelong family that I didn’t have before. I am attending my fourth summer this year because our bond is really strong and the community is inviting. This program has brought me so much joy and happiness and it has encouraged me to continue my education after high school. I am currently exploring culinary programs at trade schools like Missoula College. Leaving home for the first time was a big struggle, but now I am used to it and ready for when I do leave to go to college.”

Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP)

Opening doors to STEM through hands-on learning, mentorship, and career pathways for students of all ages

The Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) provides students of all ages with hands-on STEM learning opportunities, from elementary school through college. Their mission is to inspire and develop the next generation of STEM leaders while opening doors to careers in both the public and private sectors.

Exploring More TRIO Opportunities

While TRIO Upward Bound focuses on helping high school students prepare for college, it’s just one of several TRIO programs that support students on their educational journey. Other TRIO initiatives provide resources for college students, adult learners, and those pursuing graduate education, each designed to expand access and success in higher education.

What is Veterans Upward Bound

Veterans Upward Bound is a U.S. Department of Education Program funded to assist veterans who are interested in pursuing a 4-year, 2-year, certificate, or apprentice program. The VUB program meets with veterans to evaluate his or her needs. This may include academic readiness, career exploration, and services provided by veteran agencies. Our goal is to assist veterans in pursuing their academic and career goals. As part of that commitment to veterans, we want to do everything we can to help with retention, graduation, and student success.

Happy National TRIO Day 2025

The fourth Saturday of February is National TRIO Day - a celebration of educational opportunity and achievement. TRIO grants, federally supported student services and support programs, are dedicated to serving limited-income and first-generation students as well as students whose disabilities impact their academic success so that they can overcome barriers and succeed during their post-secondary educational journey.
