Because of UB's Summer Academy...

“I am prepared for the next school year and begin learning key concepts early, which has improved my grades. I knew what I was doing in Algebra 2 this year! I have never really liked English, but now it’s my favorite subject after having a great experience in last summer’s English class. Upward Bound has given me my best friend, amazing mentors, and a lifelong family that I didn’t have before. I am attending my fourth summer this year because our bond is really strong and the community is inviting. This program has brought me so much joy and happiness and it has encouraged me to continue my education after high school. I am currently exploring culinary programs at trade schools like Missoula College. Leaving home for the first time was a big struggle, but now I am used to it and ready for when I do leave to go to college.”

“I am inspired to pursue higher education and have found many new opportunities and friends. Last summer helped alleviate my anxiety and I am now comfortable asking questions in front of the class. I understand my voice is meaningful and has value. After experiencing college life, I have created a routine for effectively managing my assignments in high school.”

“I feel more confident about the upcoming school year and more motivated in my studies. Upward Bound is a good support system that challenges me to grow and be more independent, which I really appreciate. Meeting students with similar interests has pushed me to reach higher and create a better future ahead of me through education.”

Exploring More TRIO Opportunities
While TRIO Upward Bound focuses on helping high school students prepare for college, it’s just one of several TRIO programs that support students on their educational journey. Other TRIO initiatives provide resources for college students, adult learners, and those pursuing graduate education, each designed to expand access and success in higher education.
