About the L.S. Skaggs Institute for Health Innovation (SIHI)
SIHI aims to improve health outcomes for all by developing sustainable clinical, research, and educational infrastructure. By prioritizing interdisciplinary collaboration for clinical and translational science, community-centered interventions, and innovative research and clinical services, SIHI addresses care gaps in resource-limited communities in Montana, while upholding the perspectives and values of those communities.
SIHI’s Programs
Pharmacist-Led Care Delivery to Improve Access to Care
SIHI’s pharmacist-led clinical programs leverage pharmacists’ clinical expertise and full scope of practice to transform care delivery, advance research, and train future healthcare professionals. SIHI’s collaborative, interdisciplinary model centers the pharmacist on the health care team, enhancing system capacity and improving outcomes across Montana.
Increasing Rural Access to Innovation
SIHI’s research focus promotes access to innovative health technologies to all Montana communities, especially rural and Indigenous populations. By funding innovations that address unmet medical needs and disease burden in our region, and enhancing disease treatment and prevention through precision medicine and pharmacogenetics, SIHI reaches all corners of the state with innovative healthcare solutions.
Providing Experiential Learning Opportunities for Students and Professionals
SIHI is committed to advancing the role of the pharmacist in healthcare by providing training in forward-thinking models of care and interprofessional collaboration embedded in our clinical service offerings. SIHI provides unique opportunities for pharmacy learners to participate in community partnerships, program development, and research.
