Incident Exposure Reporting
When To Report An Injury
- Needle sicks or sharps injuries
 - Allergic reactions to animals
 - Injuries while handling or transporting animals
 - Zoonotic disease exposures
 - Exposure to human blood, tissue or other potentially infectious material (OPIM)
 - Eye, skin, or mucous membrane exposure
 - Animal bites or scratches
 
Steps To Take
- Analyze severity 
- If the injury is a medical emergency, call 911 immediately, or render first aid.
 
 - Flush wound 
- Flush the affected area with soap and water for 15 minutes.
 
 - Notify 
- Notify the Principle Investigator (PI)/Supervisor and the Biosafety Officer.
 
 - Seek medical attention if necessary 
- During business hours, visit Curry Health Center, primary care provider or local urgent care.
 - After business hours - go to the nearest ER or call 911 or UM police (406)243-4000
 
 - Complete a FROI 
- Complete the
