Section Change Deadlines: Spring 2026

The 91次元's deadlines for switching sections in the spring semester are posted on this page. Students are responsible for adhering to all published registration deadlines. 

If the two sections are held in different sessions, you may only request a section change during the "Open Registration Period" of the session you are switching out of. If this period has passed, you must submit separate add and drop requests for the two sections.

How to Switch Sections

January 15 - May 8, 2026
Open Registration Period

Through Jan. 22: Go to GrizPortal → Registration Card → Registration and Edit Your Class Schedule → Register for Classes. Some courses require permission. Contact the instructor to request a Registration Override for the new section if needed.

Jan. 23 - Feb. 5: Go to GrizPortal → Registration Card → Registration and Edit Your Class Schedule → Register for Classes. All courses require permission to switch into. Contact the new instructor to request a Registration Override for the new section.

Late Request Period

Feb. 6 - Apr. 24: Submit request in GrizPortal → Registration Card → Course Add, Change, Drop. Approval from both instructors is required.

Apr. 25 and beyond: Section changes are not permitted on or after this date for either section. Contact 406-243-5600 or registration@umontana.edu regarding registration errors.

Final Exams: May 4-8

12-Week Session

February 2 - May 8, 2026

Note: If the open registration period extends beyond February 5, use Course Add, Change, Drop instead.
