Preventive dental hygiene care is available for students at Curry Health Center Dental. We recommend visits every 3–6 months to help maintain your oral health.
Preventing periodontal disease (gum disease) and tooth decay is important not only for oral health but for overall whole-body health. There is a two-way relationship between oral health and overall health. Your dental hygienist will teach you techniques to prevent oral diseases.
They can help you with:
- Proper dental hygiene care
- Education on how foods affect your oral health
- Tobacco counseling
- Understanding how other health factors and medications may affect your oral health

Curry Health Center Dental restores teeth damaged by decay, chips, cracks, or general wear. We offer fillings with a variety of materials and provide crowns as needed.
Fillings
We use tooth-colored fillings that blend naturally with your teeth.Crowns
Dental crowns (caps) completely cover a tooth. They are placed on cracked, badly damaged, or root canal-treated teeth. Crowns can be tooth-colored to match your natural teeth or made from high-grade gold alloy. -
Root canals are performed when decay reaches the pulp or nerve of a tooth, a tooth is severely broken, or the tooth has died. This procedure allows patients to keep their teeth when possible, avoiding extraction.
-
If a tooth has significant trauma, decay, or periodontal disease, extraction may be necessary. While we perform extractions, we do not remove impacted teeth at our clinic. However, we can provide referrals and X-rays if impacted tooth removal is needed.
-
We refer patients to specialists or private practices for services not offered at Curry Health Center Dental, including:
- Periodontics (gum surgery)
- Orthodontics (braces)
- Dentures and partial dentures
- Oral surgery, including extraction of impacted teeth
- Complex root canal treatments
- Extensive or complex restorative treatment plans
- Dental implants
Specialists and private practice dentists set their own fees, which students are responsible for paying.
