ODP Student Staff
We have the pleasure of employing a diverse staff who each have a different knowledge base and skill set in the Outdoor space!
Henry Blackmore
Henry was born and raised in the college town of Madison, Wisconsin. He moved out to Montana to study Geography and will (hopefully) graduate as “the last Geography major from UM”. He spends most of his days climbing now, whether that be spending long hours at the wall or getting easily convinced into heinous adventures on the rock. When he needs to rest his skin he enjoys backpacking, running, and the quintessential Missoula activities of slacklining and hacky sack.
Grace Erba
Grace is a PhD student in the Wildlife Biology Program. Originally from Indiana, she moved to Montana in 2018 for her undergrad and decided to stay for a few more years. When not immersed in scientific literature, she enjoys trail running, rock climbing, yoga, gravel biking, and solo (usually crazy) mountain adventures. She’s learning how to alpine ski but currently tends to wipeout more than anything else. Regardless of how she’s exploring the outdoors, she’s always compelled by how the experience leaves her grounded and fulfilled.
Isabela Santanna-Skites
Isabela grew up in Chicago, Illinois. Though a vibrant city, she was eager to escape the hustle and bustle. She is ecstatic to be in the beautiful state of Montana studying dance and wildlife biology. Her favorite outdoor activities include backpacking and skiing. If you ever need free dance lessons, you can often find her frolicking on the oval.
Burke Schrimsher
Burke was born and raised in Georgia. He has been in Montana for 3 ½ years now. He loves everything about the outdoors. He is studying parks and rec and land management here at UM. You can most likely catch Burke on the river kayaking, or in the mountains just roaming around. If he is not there, catch him at bonner park slacklining or juggling some torches.
Aidan Mcmullen
Aidan came from deep in the hills of western North Carolina, where he spent his life kayaking, biking, and skiing the freshest slush east of the Mississippi. He has moved westward in search of something called "snow" and "real mountains," but ended up spending all his time kayaking anyway. He loves being outside, he finds the indoors confining and scary. He is studying Journalism and Environmental Science at UM, but he mostly spends his time kayaking anyway. Stop by the ODP sometime and ask him about kayaking!
Giselle Todd
Giselle was raised between Ohio, Colorado, and Maine. She found a love for the outdoors and adventure which brought her to Montana! She studies Environmental Science and Sustainability with a certificate in GIS. She plans to get her masters in this field and go into climate modeling research. Her favorite outdoor activities are backpacking, skiing and climbing! Otherwise can often be found knitting, jamming, or cooking yummy food!
Nina Erving
Nina was born and raised in Missoula, MT. She’s a Multidisciplinary Major with focuses in Outdoor Education, Environmental Studies, and Medicine. You can usually find her running the trails around Missoula with her dog Rica. When the weather turns cold, she’s either cozied up with a good book or out on the slopes, freezing on skis.
Toby Simonsen
Toby grew up in Montana and somehow still can’t get enough of the mountains. Snowboarding first sparked his love for the outdoors, and during a gap year after high school he picked up climbing, something he’s been hooked on ever since. Now a student of Computer Science and GIS at UM, he’s led by adventure, curiosity, and creative problem solving in both his studies and his outdoor pursuits. If he’s not at the wall, you can usually find him running or biking somewhere around Missoula.
Ethan Chatwood
Ethan grew up outside Laurel, Montana with the Yellowstone River and Beartooth Mountains just a hop, skip, and a scenic highway away. He started climbing his first week at UM as a Secondary Education in Broadfield Science major. When not at the climbing wall he can be found lie-backing a perfect hands crack climb, getting lost in Lolo, backpacking, hacky-sacking, peak-bagging, skiing, and playing banana grams. Or just say garter snake 3 times and he will appear.
Tobin Ide
Tobin grew up in Bozeman, Montana, where he quickly became dedicated to climbing competition. However, the indoor climbing scene could not contain his stoke for movement and adventure. He now spends his time, when not studying wildlife biology, slacklining, or sharing tea with friends, pursuing challenge on the ever-inspiring yet coarse medium of rock. Being fortunate enough to live near pristine mountains for much of his life, it is his mission to give back to his community and the environment, so that more people can have access to and appreciate the great outdoors.
Brooks Davis
Brooks grew up in south central Idaho playing in the sage brush of the Owyhee mountains and the lakes of the Central mountains. Brooks is perusing a degree in Parks, Tourism & Recreation Management. While in Montana Brooks enjoys a mired of activity’s including rock climbing, backpacking, and skiing. Most weekends you will find him wandering around the mountains in search of beautiful places.
