Bruce Montgomery, MS Candidate
I am a M.S. student in the Wildlife Biology program, advised by Dr. Sarah Sells. I also work as a Grizzly Bear Research Technician with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks on the grizzly bear trend monitoring project. I began my professional career in the U.S. Army and later earned a degree in biology, which led me to field-based wildlife work across the country. Prior to my current research role on the grizzly bear trend project, I worked in a range of wildlife management roles, including grizzly and black bear conflict response, elk population reduction, and wild hog control. These hands-on experiences in wildlife management have shaped my research interests in applied ecology, particularly in spatial ecology, large carnivore behavior, and human-wildlife conflict. For my graduate research, I’m investigating grizzly bear denning chronology and denning habitat in the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem.
