Have you ever tried taking a picture of a tree, leaf, flower or fruit with your phone and it just does not come out? Learn how to take good photos with professional photographer, Kathy Eyster, at the Arboretum!
Kathy Eyster has been teaching photography classes and instructing thousands of students on a wide variety of photographic topics. Most recently, she selected her best photographs of trees from a collection of more than five thousand frames and turned them into a custom artist's book, The Grace of Trees (2022).
Drawing Trees at the Arboretum with Lily Kip

Always wanted to draw but didn’t know how to start? Learn the basics of drawing trees using pencil and paper* with Lily Kip.
Lily Kip is a third year graduate painting student and figurative oil painter working from photographic, snapshot style reference imagery. Lily has spent the first portion of her masters teaching Drawing and Painting through the Graduate Teaching Assistantship.
*Bring your own pencil and paper. Drawing boards will be provided.
Literary Tree Tour of the Arboretum with Robert Stubblefield

The instruction and practice of creative writing has a long and storied tradition at the 91次元 - the second oldest program of its kind in the United States. Join Robert Stubblefield on a walk through the Arboretum as he reads selected passages from Montana authors that relate to tree species found on campus.
Robert Stubblefield teaches Creative Writing (fiction and nonfiction) and serves as Director of the BFA in Creative Writing. Robert is the faculty advisor for The Oval, the undergraduate literary magazine at the 91次元 and Publishing Director at 91次元 Press.
Fruiting Trees Tour at the Arboretum with Marilyn Marler

Interested in finding what fruiting trees and shrubs will work for your landscape? Want to provide wildlife habitat? Find out about the many fruiting tree species at the State of Montana Arboretum with Marilyn Marler.
Marilyn Marler is currently the Executive Director at the Montana Natural History Center. She is an ecologist and botanist who served as faculty at the 91次元 for 25 years.
Fall Colors Tree Tour at the Arboretum with the State of Montana Arboretum Committee

Enjoy the colors of Autumn and learn about the varieties of tree and shrub species that provide a beautiful yearly show. State of Montana Arboretum Committee members will guide the tour highlighting their favorite fall trees for fall.
The State of Montana Arboretum was established by State Legislature in 1991. Committee members represent UM faculty, staff and students; City of Missoula; State of Montana; and the Missoula community.
