638 Case Manager and on-call CPS for Fort Belknap Social Services

A co-worker asked me to apply.
What do you appreciate most about supervising practicum students?
This is to let students know that this line of work (social work) is truly a calling and that all your hard work pays off in the end. Helping people better themselves also helps the ones who are helping them better themselves.
What does being a social worker mean to you?
To me, being a social worker means dedicating your career to helping others who are struggling to help themselves. You give them tools, coping skills, and support to see their lives from a different perspective. You give them hope and a chance to change the things they want to change and embrace the things they are doing right. It's all about perspective.
How does your role as a social worker relate to your role as a supervisor?
It's all-encompassing. The role really doesn't change; a supervisor should and does a lot of hands-on work.
What is the most important thing you hope your practicum students take with them into their careers?
It's okay not to have all the answers and to always ask questions. You learn a lot in this line of work by messing things up from time to time. Remember, you are human, and we learn the best lessons in life from our mistakes.
What is your favorite quote that exemplifies social work?
I am not responsible for when you do good, and I am not responsible for when you aren't doing good. I am here to guide you on your journey to better yourself and your family.
