Jason McDaniel was appointed Director of Production and Public Events for the College of the Arts and Media in 2025. In this role, he manages production operations and safety initiatives for the School of Theatre and Dance and Montana Repertory Theatre, while assisting with coordination of CAM public events and aligning schedules with the School of Music.
With more than 30 years of professional experience in theatre production and stage management, he has toured nationally and supported over a decade of national tours from the home office. He has served on the technical direction staff at southeastern regional theatres, provided production shop support for several Broadway shows, and worked in the Ride and Show Division at Universal Studios Orlando. His career also includes serving as Production Manager for Montana Repertory Theatre and the UM School of Theatre and Dance, as well as technical operations with Le Rêve at Wynn Las Vegas.
Jason holds an MFA in Stage Automation from the North Carolina School of the Arts and a BFA in Technical Direction and Scenic Design from the University of Memphis. He is committed to helping the College’s performing arts programs become more synchronous across disciplines and to advancing a safety-first approach in shops, studios, and performance spaces. Happily married for more than 20 years to a fellow lover of live performance, Jason enjoys life in Missoula with his partner and their two cats, and can often be found rafting on multi-day trips.
